Fencing, Tree Care & Outdoor Services in Pontypridd
Operating from our central base in Pontypool, JDP Outdoor Solutions regularly travels across to Pontypridd and the surrounding valley communities. Led by Jac Price, we provide storm-resistant fencing, precision tree surgery, patio restoration, and licensed waste clearances built to handle steep valley terrain and exposed hillside weather.
Custom stepped boundary fencing built to cope with steep valley inclines and exposed winds.
Tackling Hillside Plots, Narrow Lanes & Valley Winds in Pontypridd
Properties in Pontypridd present distinctive outdoor challenges. From the steeply terraced gardens of Graig and Cilfynydd to older residential plots in Treforest and Rhydyfelin, outdoor installations here require structural grit. Steep gradients, narrow rear access lanes, and heavy wind funnelling through the Taff corridor mean standard off-the-shelf trade work often fails prematurely.
Stepped Boundaries & Slopes
Sloping gardens cannot take uniform, flat fencing. We construct bespoke stepped runs using vertical featheredge fencing, custom post depths, and stepped timber or concrete gravel boards that follow the natural fall of your ground without leaving gaps beneath.
High Valley Wind Resistance
Timber posts set in saturated clay soils easily snap during autumn gales. As an installer of Birkdale DuraPost steel posts, we fit cold-rolled galvanised systems wind-tested up to 110mph that will not rot, split, or blow over on exposed hillsides.
Challenging Domestic Access
Many valley homes have no rear driveway, requiring materials to be moved through narrow side passages or up flights of steps. We bring compact handling kit, portable stump grinders, and self-contained clearing tools to work tidily without tearing up paths or lawn surfaces.

Local Council & Planning Considerations
Tree management across Pontypridd falls under Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. If your trees are covered by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or stand within a designated Conservation Area, council permission is required prior to significant reductions or felling.
We guide you on whether formal applications are necessary and carry out all work strictly in compliance with Natural Resources Wales guidelines and the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
Upper Tier Waste Carrier Registered
Fly-tipping enforcement by Natural Resources Wales is rigorous across valley hillsides. Homeowners hold a legal Duty of Care for their household and garden waste. JDP Outdoor Solutions is fully licensed, meaning all timber, clippings, and old fencing are processed solely at registered South Wales transfer facilities.
Frequently Asked Questions for Pontypridd
Do you carry out work in Pontypridd from your Pontypool base?
Yes. Pontypool sits comfortably within our primary 15-mile operating radius. We regularly schedule site visits, tree surgery projects, and boundary fence replacements in and around Pontypridd.
How do you deal with steep or tiered gardens common in the valley?
We build fences to fit the specific gradient rather than forcing prefabricated square panels onto a hill. We step panels neatly, secure posts deeply into solid ground with proper concrete footings, and use gravel boards to bridge ground undulations.
Can you remove green waste and old panels if there is only narrow terraced lane access?
Yes. Much of our valley work involves terraced rows with tight back lanes or pedestrian-only access. We bring barrows, heavy-duty sacks, and compact equipment to transport old fencing or felled branches out neatly without damaging adjacent properties.
What happens if a boundary fence is blown down during high winds?
We provide prompt storm damage fence repairs. If the existing posts have snapped at ground level, we can either re-post the line or upgrade the boundary to Birkdale DuraPost steel posts for long-term wind resistance.
