Do I need council permission to fell a tree in Torfaen or Monmouthshire?

You generally need permission if the tree has a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or if your property is in a Conservation Area. This is common in parts of Abergavenny, Chepstow, and near Pontypool Park. We can help you check this with the local council. If a tree is dead or poses an immediate danger, we can often carry out the work, but it is always best to verify first.

Why should I choose DuraPost steel fence posts over traditional timber or concrete?

Timber posts eventually rot at the ground level where they sit in wet soil. Concrete posts are heavy, can crack, and are difficult to install on steep valley gardens. DuraPost is made from cold-rolled galvanised steel. It is lightweight, won't rot, and is designed to handle the 110mph winds we sometimes see on exposed hillsides. It gives you a much longer-lasting boundary.

Are you licensed to take away garden waste and household rubbish?

Yes. JDP Outdoor Solutions is an Upper Tier / Full Waste Carrier. We provide you with the peace of mind that every load of garden waste or household rubbish we collect is tracked and disposed of at a legal recycling centre. This protects you from the risks and fines associated with illegal fly-tipping.

Can you replace broken fence posts without replacing the whole fence?

If your fence panels are still in good condition but a post has snapped, we can usually replace just the post. We can also slot new panels into existing concrete posts if the old ones have blown out. We always look for the most cost-effective way to secure your boundary.

How deep do you grind tree stumps below ground level?

We usually grind stumps down to well below the turf line. This allows you to cover the area with topsoil and grass, or even lay a new patio or path over the top without the old root system getting in the way.

When is the best time of year to cut back large hedges?

While we can do light trimming most of the year, we avoid heavy reductions between March and August. This is the main bird nesting season, and it is illegal to disturb nesting birds. We recommend scheduling major hedge work for the autumn or winter months.

Can old crumbling patio joints be repaired without relaying the whole patio?

Absolutely. If your paving slabs are still solid but the gaps are full of weeds and moss, we can help. We clean the joints out thoroughly and refill them with high-quality jointing sand or resin-based mortars. This refreshes the look of your garden and stops water from getting under the slabs and causing them to wobble.

Heavy-Duty Contracting Tailored to South East Wales

Outdoor trade work across Torfaen, Monmouthshire, and Newport (Gwent) demands an understanding of distinct regional geography. From steep valley hillside terraces exposed to severe wind funnelling to historic market towns with preserved trees and sensitive stone boundaries, JDP Outdoor Solutions brings the right equipment to tackle demanding terrain without unnecessary disruption.

Storm-Resistant DuraPost Fencing

Standard timber posts rot quickly in damp Welsh clay soils and snap under severe valley winds. As a Birkdale DuraPost Trusted Installer, we fit cold-rolled galvanised steel posts engineered to withstand gusts up to 110mph.

Planning & Wildlife Compliance

We liaise responsibly with Torfaen, Monmouthshire, and Newport City planning bodies on Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and Conservation Areas, while rigorously following the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 during nesting seasons.

Full Waste Carrier Licence

We ensure every load of green waste, felled branches, soil, or garden rubble is taken strictly to authorised Natural Resources Wales transfer facilities, supplying compliant waste transfer documentation.
