Professional Tree Surgery Across
Pontypool & South Wales

It depends on where you live and the type of tree. Many trees in Torfaen and Monmouthshire are protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO), especially in historic areas or near Pontypool Park. If your property is in a Conservation Area, you generally need to give the council six weeks' notice before starting any work. JDP Outdoor Solutions can help you identify if your tree is protected. We handle the technical details for TPO tree work to help you stay on the right side of local planning rules.

Taking down a large tree in a tight spot requires more than just a chainsaw. For tree felling in Abergavenny, especially in the narrow gardens of Victorian or Georgian townhouses, we use sectional dismantling. This involves climbing the tree and lowering branches down one by one using ropes and pulleys. It prevents damage to your flower beds, greenhouses, or neighbouring fences.

While they sound similar, they do different jobs for your garden. Tree pruning in Caldicot or Pontypool is usually about tidying up a tree by removing dead wood or crossing branches to keep it healthy. Crown reduction in Torfaen is a more structural job where we reduce the height and spread of the canopy. This is often the best choice if a tree is blocking your TV signal, overshadowing your lawn, or catching too much wind on a steep valley slope.

When we remove a tree, the stump is left behind at ground level. If you want to lay a new lawn, build a fence, or put down a patio, that stump needs to go. Our stump grinding in Chepstow involves using a high-powered machine to chew the wood into chips well below the soil line. This kills the root system and leaves the ground flat so you can use the space immediately.

Yes. It is vital to check this because homeowners can be fined if their waste is fly-tipped by an unlicenced trader. JDP Outdoor Solutions holds a full Waste Carrier Licence issued by Natural Resources Wales. Every bit of timber, foliage, and green waste we remove is taken to a legal South Wales transfer station for processing. We leave your garden clean and your conscience clear.

We always check for nesting birds before we start work on any hedge or tree between March and August. Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, it is illegal to disturb nesting birds. If we find an active nest, we will advise you to wait until the chicks have fledged. For general maintenance, we provide hedge trimming and removal across the 15-mile radius from Pontypool to keep your boundaries looking sharp year-round.

Many customers in the valleys like to keep the timber for firewood. If you want us to, we can cut the logs into manageable sizes for you to split and dry out. If you don't want the wood, we simply load it onto our trucks and clear the site. Our goal is to leave your garden exactly how you want it, with no heavy lifting left for you.
