Do I need council permission to fell a tree in Torfaen or Monmouthshire?

You generally need permission if the tree has a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or if your property is in a Conservation Area. This is common in parts of Abergavenny, Chepstow, and near Pontypool Park. We can help you check this with the local council. If a tree is dead or poses an immediate danger, we can often carry out the work, but it is always best to verify first.

Why should I choose DuraPost steel fence posts over traditional timber or concrete?

Timber posts eventually rot at the ground level where they sit in wet soil. Concrete posts are heavy, can crack, and are difficult to install on steep valley gardens. DuraPost is made from cold-rolled galvanised steel. It is lightweight, won't rot, and is designed to handle the 110mph winds we sometimes see on exposed hillsides. It gives you a much longer-lasting boundary.

Are you licensed to take away garden waste and household rubbish?

Yes. JDP Outdoor Solutions is an Upper Tier / Full Waste Carrier. We provide you with the peace of mind that every load of garden waste or household rubbish we collect is tracked and disposed of at a legal recycling centre. This protects you from the risks and fines associated with illegal fly-tipping.

Can you replace broken fence posts without replacing the whole fence?

If your fence panels are still in good condition but a post has snapped, we can usually replace just the post. We can also slot new panels into existing concrete posts if the old ones have blown out. We always look for the most cost-effective way to secure your boundary.

How deep do you grind tree stumps below ground level?

We usually grind stumps down to well below the turf line. This allows you to cover the area with topsoil and grass, or even lay a new patio or path over the top without the old root system getting in the way.

When is the best time of year to cut back large hedges?

While we can do light trimming most of the year, we avoid heavy reductions between March and August. This is the main bird nesting season, and it is illegal to disturb nesting birds. We recommend scheduling major hedge work for the autumn or winter months.

Can old crumbling patio joints be repaired without relaying the whole patio?

Absolutely. If your paving slabs are still solid but the gaps are full of weeds and moss, we can help. We clean the joints out thoroughly and refill them with high-quality jointing sand or resin-based mortars. This refreshes the look of your garden and stops water from getting under the slabs and causing them to wobble.

Practical Fencing & Tree Work for Trecceln / Newbridge Properties

Working along the western flank of the Ebbw Valley requires an honest understanding of steep residential terraces, confined access, and valley wind funnels. Properties in Trecceln / Newbridge frequently deal with sloping garden layouts, narrow rear lanes, and heavy seasonal rainfall running off the hillsides.

Standard wooden fence posts set in waterlogged valley soil often rot early or blow out during fierce autumn gales. That is why we specialise in heavy-duty boundary installations, including cold-rolled steel Birkdale DuraPost systems and pressure-treated vertical featheredge fencing engineered to withstand winds up to 110mph.

For properties with mature trees outgrowing boundary lines or encroaching on overhead lines and roofs, our equipped arborists carry out controlled crown reductions and sectional tree felling using specialist lowering rigging to keep tight terraced spaces completely protected.
